INTERVIEW
ANDREW
BASSIST OF EQUINOXX
What bands do you listen to?
I really enjoy Iron Maiden, Megadeath, and you know old and new stuff.
What are the bands that most influence your music?
Iron Maiden because their bass is very similar to how I play it, and also Megadeath because their bassist plays the same as the guitar and I try to mimick that.
Do you have an idol? If so, who is it? Why?
Jason Newstead of Metallica because he has a "balls to the wall sort of style" and he's a great performer.
What inspires you to write music?
Listening to music inspires me to write my own. Listening to music is a wonderful thing; some people do art or work on cars, and music is my thing.
Do you write about personal experiences?
No, because I just write parts not lyrics. I've experimented with writing lyrics when I was in the mood and I do write about what I'm feeling.
What is the best part of being a musician?
The best part is going on the stage and seeing people have a great time. Getting approval from the audience is amazing.
What is the worst part about being a musician?
It's a LOT of work for not much recognition but it's worth it; that's the worst part if there has to be one.
Is it difficult to keep a band together?
It's really hard, especially with all the separate schedules and trying to get everyone to be in the same place at the same time.
How was the name Equinoxx picked?
Well, one of the band members was looking through the calendar and saw the word Equinox and it seemed cool, and thought that adding an extra X would make it x-tra awesome.
What do you hope for the future of Equinoxx?
I want us to stay together and do the best we can, but we have to be realistic.

Andrew Bushong is the older brother of a friend of mine, and he happened to be one of the opening bands at the Sunflower Dead concert. So, I was set up for an interview within minutes. One thing that struck me about Andrew right off the bat was that he LOVES music and can't imagine a life where music wasn't the center of it (which is totally understandable).
Thank you Andrew!
CHECK IT OUT!!!s will continue to be on Thursdays, however they are a low priority post and will not be always be weekly.
