It was originally founded, as you know, in 1983. However, the actual Hall of Fame wasn't even in a permanent location until 1986. The first induction to the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame was on January 23, 1986, when James Brown, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke, the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, and Jerry Lee Lewis were inducted as performers. As Early Influences, Robert Johnson, Jimmie Rogers, and Jimmy Yancey were inducted. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to John Hammond, and Alan Freed and Sam Phillips were inducted as Non-Performers.

 I visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame over the summer. I thoroughly enjoyed so many of the awesome exhibits including the Early Influences exhibit, the extensive Elvis Presley exhibit, and the hallway that showed all the great cities for Rock and Roll. Some cities were Los Angeles, Cleveland, London, and many others.
The oddly decorated cars hanging from the ceiling and the giant coloured guitars were really fun to look at (this includes the giant hot dog).

2013 Inductees are Rush, Heart, Randy Newman, Public Enemy, Donna Summer, and Albert King. The Lifetime Achievement Award is going to Lou Adler and Quincy Jones. 

This is such an awesome museum! If you ever get the chance to go, take it! When I visited I was the first to get there, and the last to leave. Believe me, all you hard rockers out there would be absolutely thrilled to live at the Hall of Fame, that's how awesome it is. Check out the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Website!
