All That Remains, HIM, & Volbeat
at the Hollywood Palladium
To no surprise of mine, ATR rocked the house. There was this crowd of girls who fangirled over the lead singer throughout the performance. That was really entertaining. Their fan base in LA is quite small, and there were a handful of ATR fans in the audience. That didn't stop them from putting on an amazing show. ATR started out the show as early as possible with my two favourite songs by them ("The Last Time" and "Stand Up"). They quickly transitioned into their screaming songs and ended back at their starting theme, framing the whole performance perfectly. At one point during the show, I managed to wedge in front of the 6'2" body builder in front of me and squeezed to the front. Because of my obvious youth I caught attention of the rhythm guitarist who turned to the bassist and started making short jokes, since we both are very short girls. I thought that was hilarious. I did get a chance, after their set, to speak for a minute or so with the rhythm guitarist, who is incredibly friendly (and buff).
HIM did not impress me, sorry to say. They just sound the same throughout the set, and they seemed to be trying to succeed as just a pretty-faced-lead-singer type band, which does not appeal to me unless there music is actually good.
Volbeat. Wow. There may have been a creepy drunk guy bothering the heck out of me the whole time, but they were so good that I didn't mind just ignoring him. The vocals of Volbeat are so unique and just GOOD, and their guitarist is frickin' amazing, and well, it's just an awesome show! I LOVE this band, especially live.
Sorry for the delay in posting! High school is a new amount of work for me that I am not used to yet.
