SUNFLOWER DEAD, NONPOINT, ALL THAT REMIANS, AND HELLYEAH

SUNFLOWER DEAD

They were very good, and I enjoyed the performance. The whole heavy metal with actual singing is definitely something I enjoy. It's way better than screamo. However, these guys were pulling the Slipknot deal where they dressed up as dead people complete with creepy zombie makeup. It was incredibly disturbing to see the lead singer with white face makeup and his veins drawn in eyeliner on his bald head. Shudder. Of course, I had to have my picture taken with him. The drummer had this ridiculous bloody-eye thing going on, too, that was CREEPY.

NONPOINT

The only point of Nonpoint was clearly to drop the f-bomb as many times as they could. I think it was the lead singer's favourite word. Speaking of the lead singer, he had dreadlocks past his waist. It was impressive. Nonpoint put on a great performance and they got the moshing really intense.

ALL THAT REMAINS

This is what I came for, and they completely blew my mind. And my standards are pretty high. Wow. They play with  a great energy and their music was excellent, as if I was listening to a better version of their albums. The female bassist was awesome, and she had the deep back-up screaming down to an art. They got the crowd so riled up that people were crowd surfing and at one point 5 different guys tried to jump the stage and had to be rescued by the bouncers. The audience has very high testosterone levels and at one point I got slammed into and my mouth bled a little. What a great performance!

This is the EPIC female bassist.

This is one of the guitarists. He had epic hair.
HELLYEAH

There's only one thing to say about Hellyeah... Hell no. They suck. A lot. Exactly why are they headlining the tour??? Their music is terrible; combine that with music WAY too loud and a tinny sound  quality, and that's how Hellyeah sounded. I left after two songs. I believe that one should not force themselves to suffer through bad, scratch that, terrible music.

Atlas Genius and Imagine Dragons

 ATLAS GENIUS

Atlas Genius did an excellent job of capturing the attention of their audience, but they were no match for the closing act. They ended their peppy show with their hit song, "Trojans," which the audience loved. They seemed very excited to get to be there, and were playing with enthusiasm. It was an enjoyable show.
IMAGINE DRAGONS

Quite an amazing show!!! They were intensely charismatic and energetic. They performed with an air of great passion and love for their music and they seemed so awed by the receptive and loving audience that screamed back very word in every song.
Imagine Dragons was all about the drums. They had a gigantic base drum, a smaller base drum, a snare, a quad, and a timpani on stage along with the drum kit. They were intense in their playing, with such compassion as I have never seen before.

Thank you Atlas Genius and Imagine Dragons! And a thousand apologies to Nico Vega- I'm sorry I missed your performance as opening act!

LOST ELEMENT, YOUNG GUNS, AND 10 YEARS

Lost Element

Okay, well I'm guessing you have never heard of them. Well, guess what? Nobody has. They are a very small band on their very first tour. They are from Houston, Texas, and have released two albums, the second of which I purchased while at the concert (Return to Solitude). They astounded me by their music, I did not expect it to be that good. They could have used more of the stage, they barely moved from their original places. If you came to see people dance then you were disappointed, but if you came to hear good music you were delighted.

Young Guns

Wow. What a stage presence!!! That was great! Take heavy metal with British punk, and you've got our lovely Young Guns. There were dynamic and the lead singer had an aura that just rubbed off on the audience. They are touring all over the United States. They will be opening Bullet for My Valentine after the 10 Years tour, and will be playing in many of the big deal festivals. This was their very first Hollywood show and they were psyched. They definitely played that way, too.

Me and the Young Guns lead singer!

10 Years

This was definitely the best of all. The lead singer had intense charisma and was born to be a performer. We were right in the front, and there were no amplifiers for the singer on the stage, so we could barely hear his voice which is a bummer because his voice is beautiful. I officially saw the strangest encore of my life with this band. The lead singer came out and sang a cappella. The singer, being a very strange guy (which was very apparent due to his unique stage presence), sang pieces of his songs along with a song by John Prine with the most beautiful voice I've heard in a rock band (besides Affiance). This was a fantastic experience!
